Casablanca - Morocco
Formerly, Anfa Village (formerly used for corsair activity), Casablanca claimed its name at the end of the XVIIth century and began to expand.
It became known for its genuine development during the XIXth century (with a hefty contribution from Lyautey) thanks to various encounters with Europeans.
Today, it is the economic center of Morocco. It has become one of the largest ports in Africa.
Casablanca ("Casa" for the locals) has become the required checkpoint for business ventures. The city is also greatly appreciated by tourists. You can have a pleasant and festive time here.
A young and dynamic city that is the headquarters for the large national and international banks.
It is similar to the large occidental suburbs (more than 4,000,000 residents). It's modernity is in direct contrast to its remaining traditions.
The architecture is often surprising. If the first half of the XXth century fascinates you, then you will be satisfied. Casa has been able to preserve exceptional architecture from the 1930s.
One recommendation: stroll, drop your head back and take a deep breath, you will be pleasantly surprised!
It's worth seeing...
The city center: that is always animated.
The central markets:
Ancient Medina: winding alleyways that are surrounded by the simple and robust ramparts dating back to the XVIth century.
The New Medina (Habbous District): is a souk that was constructed by the French at the onset of the XXth century is a copy of the traditional Medina. Fun fact: you can imagine that you are in Hollywood film constructed souk!
The Hassan II Mosque: is sumptuous and accessible to the public (which is an exception). Impressionable, gigantic and luxurious.
The Corniche Tour:
the boulevard often leads to the El-Hank lighthouse. Its terraces, swimming pools, restaurants and night clubs... are chic and popular. So be trendy!
The Anfa District: is a residential zone with magnificent villas and gardens.
The surrounding area...
Azemmour via El-Jadida: the coast is an immense beach that brings the rather authentic small towns and picturesque villages together.
